A JRPG game build for the TigerJam 3. The color palette was forced on us. We had to include a tiger. And... well there was an optional theme.

The web build does not have sound for some reason, not sure why. The offline build has sound.

Controls:

  • arrow keys, space/z, x/backspace
  • controller supported
  • Mouse is NOT supported, some menus work with the mouse, but not everything, but everything works with keyboard/controller.


Backstory:

A while back on the 8bits to infinity discord someone claimed that it's not possible to create a RPG in the time limit of a jam.

And, they where right. This project was seriously overscoped. I wanted to add "backwards leveling" so your characters got weaker the more they fight and needed to be replaced by new ones. But I never got to that part. I also didn't get to do any balancing, so it might feel a bit random.

I am happy with the technical side of things, attacks feel nice, a lot of things are handled with scripting, making extra content development reasonably quick. Gameplay wise, I'm not the happiest, I think it lacks a bit on that area. Most likely because I spend 60% of the time of this jam in developing the code behind it, and only like 20% of the time on actual content.

I had a great time playing this over an entire stream. Sorry that it has take a while for me to get VODs out. ORANGE TREE!!!
