Trials of Olympus
8Bit style tactics game, for the 8bits to infinity 8bit jam.
Follow Aphrodite as she fights and charms her way through 5 chapters. Try to charm other gods to recruit them to your cause, and make your way to Mt. Olympus.
Controls: Cursor keys for movement. X for "confirm" Z for "cancel", keys can be reconfigured in the options. In theory gamepads should also work, but not tested. (main menu works with mouse, but that's a side effect of my game engine, not intentional)
8Bit jam required NES style limitations. We weight pretty hard into the limitations:
- Controls are strictly NES, directions, A/B/Start (we didn't end up using select)
- Graphics limitations are mostly in place. 256x224 pixels, sprites are 16x16 pixels. Most sprites are 3 colors. But we broke a few limits, more then 8 sprites per line are drawn, some sprites have 4 colors sneaked in there. And nr of unique colors and tiles are not respected. Only real nerds will notice we broke these limits ;-)
- Sound/music is made with NES limits in mind.
